Let's get this straight it is still Autumn as far as I know. Have they changed the seasons without telling me, have they?
I keep hearing the reporters on the news referring to it being Winter but as far as I am aware Winter doesn't start until 21st December.
This was the scene on the road next to my house at around 4pm yesterday. People abandoned their cars and walked the rest of the way home. The whole of the area had ground to a halt by 6pm when the roads were complete blocked by cars that couldn't get up the hills to the village. Both of our cars spent the night sitting on a verge next to the M20. Thankfully it wasn't far to walk home and this morning the gritting lorries had been a cleared a path for us to retrieve them and make our way up the hills. If this is Autumn though I do wonder what Winter has in store for us?
I know some people don't approve but we always had a party for Halloween years ago when the boys were small. All except for the two years we went to stay with my brother in USA in October and of course there they went Trick Or Treating. It was exciting dressing up and lots of fun for the boys.

The colours of the trees and plants as they turn from green to gold, brown, red and yellow. I don't even mind the dark mornings and the fact it gets dark early.
I love all the comfort foods like the Cottage Pie (Vegetarian of course) we had for dinner tonight.
and the Apple and Cinnamon Crumble now waiting for me to take it out of the oven.
The fact that it will soon be Halloween, my birthday and then Christmas. The smell of fireworks and bonfires in the air. Strictly Come Dancing being on every Saturday evening and with Claudia Winkleman every week day.
The Christmas magazines that are now appearing on the supermarket shelves.
It gives me a lovely warm feeling just thinking about it.
My second favourite season is Spring. Which is your favourite?
Tomorrow I head back to work after the 6 week break (groan). School doesn't start until next Monday (hurrah) but the staff are all in for what is know as Dev (development) Days. On the plus side it's going to be interesting to find out what training etc. they have arranged for us and of course it will be good to see everyone and catch up on their news.
Working in a school means my year not only goes from January to January but from September to July. Every September to me means new a beginning/fresh start.
Although I have enjoyed my days out over the Summer I did say 10 years ago that I would never go without a holiday in the Summer again and I wish I remembered that! I don't feel refreshed and ready to return to the daily grind. I'm still having trouble sleeping some nights thinking about work and feel cheated of that time where I can forget everything and relax. We haven't much money to spare hence the stay at home holiday but never again even if it means getting the tent out of the loft.
Anyone been watching the BBC programme Secret Britain? I have really been enjoying parts of the UK we don;t normally see. What I can't understand however is why would anyone tell the world their favourite secret place, do you? When we first heard the request on Countryfile one Sunday evening we exclaimed why would you as it won't be a secret for long. Thanks to those who did though. What do think?
Everything is quiet on the house selling front. 10 years I wait and the stupid recession gets in the way. The house next door has now sold so there is some hope.
Anyway last day and lots to do. James comes home from his holiday in France, lots of crafting ready for the Christmas Fairs and enjoy the sun whilst it's out in the garden which is very own my secret place. Thankfully I don't think the BBC would be interested in.
