H and I were looking through an old leather case yesterday we inherited many years ago from an elderly relative. In it are photo's and items from his life. It's pretty sad really as he had no children and very little family. We keep them and will pass them on to our children although he wasn't
a close realtive or even a blood relative.
What we couldn't work out was why he had kept the Radio Times from 1958. We looked at it but
there's nothing that obvious. So it went back into the case as something of interest.
It has changed a little over the years don't you think?
Weather is still cold and snowy here and a
certain little cat hasn't gone far in the last few days. To think that this time last year he was a stray and living rough in a shed.
On Facebook the Positive Thought I received today was:-
"Even if you're on the right track.. you will get run over if you just sit there!!!"
It's easy to talk about our dreams and visualise them in our minds.. the real test of strength and courage is whether or not you are willing to run towards your dreams. regardless of the challenges and obstacles in your path... and not to stop until you have grasped onto them with both hands, never to let go!
It has led to all sort of comments and to one of my friends thinking of this song by Elvis.
Another comment came from my cousin:-
"Challenges are sent to try us. My dream was to move to Cornwall, never did I think that I actually would. Even though it meant leaving my children and Grandchildren behind I took the challenge. Now even though i live in the land of my dreams each day is a challenge. I miss my children and grandchildren. Their lives continue with out me but its even sweeter when i do get to talk or be with them. and it's a fantastic excuse to spoil the grandchildren in a way that grandparents can. Would I take the challenge again. No hesitation, you have to just go for it."
Will I have the courage to take the challenge?

I wonder how will have all my things when I pass away...having no children myself :( Nice you kept them :) x
I have a dream; to come to England! Spend a bit of time in London, a bit of time in the Cotswold, visit my cousins in Birmingham and maybe have a lovely lunch with you somewhere. Cant see it happening right now, but life is changing for us, so that we maybe can realize some of our dreams. Enjoyed your post.
The 1958 Radio Times looks more like a newspaper. I have a biscuit tin of family papers relating to my aunt, uncle and cousin - all gone now and no other relatives to pass it on to but I can't bear to think of getting rid of anything. I think your cat is looking out of the window thinking how lucky he is to have found a warm and loving home:)
Thanks Joe, Lois and Rosie for your comments. I always love hearing from you. Lois-I look forward to having lunch with you xx
