Christmas in Canterbury

Yesterday the lure of the shops got to me. The credit crunch and the promise to be more prudent this year was to much. Sorry but I love the shops at Christmas and I love Canterbury. So with only a little encouragement OH and I ventured out in the rain to wander around the streets and the Annual German Market, to take in the ambiance and of course I did pick up a few gifts.

The River Stour runs through the centre of the city. Yesterday the water level look a little higher than usual.

The Cathedral Close.

The German Market can be found in Whitegates during December.

Later I sorted out Chloe my great neice's presents ready to be put in the post in time for her 1st Christmas.

Canterbury looks wonderful, I've only ever passed through it on a coach and never had the chance to visit - maybe one day. The German markets are fun aren't they? Lucky Chloe, what lovely gifts - especially Peter Rabbit:)

I love Canterbury too. We always went there while staying at the family caravan. I should visit the Christmas market and will make every effort to this December.
The pictures look great.
