Christmas at Polsden Lacey

Not great pictures sorry as it was so busy and I quickly took these, It was a lovely evening and I managed to buy some gifts for a few people. I loved the decorations. They were so simple and made from nature things, making me think that this Christmas I will try to be more natural and less gaudy, no tinsel etc. The volunteers had dressed in authentic dress and the butler in particular looked a little scary.
We last saw the house in summer, so it was really good seeing it in the evening with the fires glowing. The dining table had been set with with the food that would have been eaten in Edwardian times.
We drank mulled wine and listened to the hand bells, watch the children on the sleigh ride and came home with a rosy glowing feeling inside.
Another National Trust property next weekend for a slightly different Christmas.
