*Enough is enough

"That's it" I shouted as I walk into the sitting room on Saturday morning. "I have had enough and I can't live like this anymore". A look of horror came on OH's face. What was I going to say next??

Let's go back a little. A few minutes earlier I had stepped into oldest sons bedroom. A place I don't venture in to at all unless I have to. But my laptop had been left on his bed and I really needed to use it. I really wish I hadn't gone in. The memory of what confronted me still haunts me. Clothes were strewn on the floor, cd's and dvd's piled high and books still in boxes from when he moved back in over a year ago. Things were everywhere with just a narrow gap through to get into bed.

Nothing else for it, time for a trip to the shops for something to store his things in.

I should point out that he left home sometime ago to spread his wings and I moved to my present house when there was just me and youngest son. Other half wasn't on the scene and the house seemed to put it politely cosy (in other words it is very small, tiny, pokey and as we say in the UK ''not enough room to swing a cat) But hey we were happy and it was big enough for the two of us.

Then oldest son started spending more and more time here after coming home for the occasional evening meal and to do his washing. I know, don't even go there! !!! The washing machine at his flat broken down a few weeks after he moved in. That's what he and his flatmates said to all their mothers. Not sure if it had or it was a ploy to get us to do their washing for them.

Anyway then he went down with a fairly serious illness that left him very ill for several weeks. One night he was supposed to be going back to his flat when he looked at me with a sad face and said please can I stay, what could I do?
The problem was I only had a very small box room to fit him and all his belongings in. His younger brother had claimed the other larger bedroom. So we fetched the things from the flat and left him to it. I rarely had call to go in. He changes the bedding himself and cleans it when reminded and that's it.

So back to Saturday morning. We set off not long after my outburst and went to first of all Ulva but nothing seemed suitable at the price I wanted to pay. Not long after I got out of the car outside the Lakeside Ikea and went in. My plan was to go out buy a wardrobe or chest of draws and bring them home there and then . Have you ever been to an Ikea store.? I don't know what happened but three hours later other half and I came out into the afternoon sunlight several pounds in cash lighter but no wardrobe or chest of draws on the trolley. I honestly don't know where we went wrong. I started off with the best of intentions I just got diverted.

So there we have it. Eldest sons bedroom still looks like a burglary has taken place several months ago but I have a new computer table, a new waste paper bin, some wine glasses and lovely new duvet cover.

I'll try the secondhand pine shop in a nearby village next week but don't be surprised if I come home with bedside table for my bedroom instead and they also sell lovely old jugs and china there. It could take quite a few trips until a find just what I want for the littlest bedroom.
If you are going to an Ikea make sure you tell people where you are going and leave several hours or days to spare it's impossible to go round quickly.

This post made me nod my head and sigh in agreement, I have two sons, the younger not too bad looking ater his bedroom, but the older....well at least you found a narrow gap to the bed! and on the IKEA front, we have had one open near us a few months ago, its so scary the car seems to drive into the car park all by its self now!! Thank you for making me smile.

Hi Joy, thanks for dropping by. I'm pleased I was able to make you smile. We have to make quite a journey to get to our Ikea store fortunately as I think my car would have the same problem.
