This week we are having the Harvest Festival at our school. It's a joke nowadays as we have very little brought in by the children and it is only things like tins of baked beans or packets of soup that are nearly out of date. For me it has totolaly lost it's meaning. What happened to the beautiful displays of vegetables, fruit, flowers and homemade bread from my youth? Well I guess I know what's happened like everything else they are now a thing of the past. At least in my corner of England anyway.

Oh but hopefully they will be coming back, maybe your school will even take part in that Morrisons growing vegetables promotion that I see advertised on TV. We don't actually have a Morrisons here though ...

I remember the school harvest festival service, too. We used to walk to the church and take our offerings and they would be displayed at the front around the pulpit and on the steps up into the chancel - the ladies who aranged the flowers would make displays of the fruit and vegetables and loaves of bread as well as seasonal flowers and greenery. Gosh, that was such a long time ago:)
